I want to continue

Blog, Creativity

With a new year comes the thoughts of what I have been doing the last year and off course the thoughts of what I would like to accomplish the coming year.

I want to start my new year like this, with a few days left on this year. I want to write what I want and where I want to start.

I have a tale to tell, and it has somewhat been hard to continue. It has never been hard to start, I have started many times. This time around I want to continue. I have always cherished my relationship with my grandma (on my mother’s side) and we have shared many moments together throughout my childhood and my grown up life. Then she passed away. It has been 1, 5 years since, and I still think I sometimes can call her to tell me about my day. Even though I can’t tell her about my day I can remember our good days. Wow, she taught me many things…

Now I think it is time to continue. I want to write my first children’s book about the relationship between a girl and her grandmother. To be correct, I want to write AND illustrate the book myself. This job might not be done through only one year, counting I will be working as a teacher as well, but I want to continue.

I have been looking through old material and a few newer pieces that are related to this project. I have been hooked to pinterest for inspiration about how to write and tips. Now it may sound like I have never written anything, hey, I am writing now. But it feels good to pick up tips along the way to develop my way of thinking about writing and stuff related.

Many thoughts are going through my mind about where to continue my project, the pieces will probably fall into place. Right now I want to start to actually write, and make an effort to give myself a first outline.

I have this great space at home next to the art studio where my bearded man and I have a small study where we have our own armchair in one corner each. I think this will be a good spot to write. But I have also always loved the loneliness about sitting in a crowded café ❀ I will find the time and space for my writing and my drawings, and in a way the two might even push each other to be better than they are today.

Time to dive into memory lane and my ideas to see how I best can tell the tale of Ophelia and her beloved grandma. More updates of my project “Ophelia” will come approximately once a month ❀

An early happy new year!

The last official drawing session this year took place at the Swedish Air Force Museum.

W O W!!!

I have to visit this place again, memories of the air ceaft in the Gibli films flashed before my eyes, I had a small moment of “wow, I can be like him…drawing air crafts…”, you could really see the inspiration…perhaps not exactly from the swedish air crafts but from the era which they were used. Next thought were…”wow, did these REALLY manage to be airborne without crashing?!?”. My next thought…”where should I start?!?”

It was a bit tighter between the airplanes than I thought, but I managed to get a seat as where I could at least try to fit the whole plane onto the paper.

And offcourse the tail didn’t make it. Perhaps the problem is that I have a to small sketchbook πŸ˜‰

I think I probably messed this one up by thinking I could draw shadows with my pitch black Shinhan touch liner, it got a vit messy in the middle. But I must say I really like working up my layers when drawing, it works really well to my style of drawing ❀

Next up was my fashination for the different motors. They had motors hanging from the ceiling, so many details, next time we will meet again πŸ˜‰

But I did get stuck at one front motor.

Here I still was at the older air planes section. Damn, I should have written down the moddl of the plane!!

Next up was a newer model!

And again the tail just….disappeared…really have to work on that until next time πŸ™‚

I think though, that this last piece is the one I feel the most comfortable with. Probably because I had warmed up a bit to the structure of the air planes.

I should point out that I have never drawn an airplane or a motor of an airplan before in my life, you can do it if you make a small effort!

Soon christmas break, guess who will be drawing quite a lot πŸ˜‰

The longest sleep-in!!

The other day when I visited grandpa I got a wedding photo of my grandma and my (biologic) grandpa. The photo was not proprely in its place and the frame was really old, not beautiful old…ugly old! So I decided that I would paint the frame today, and cut a new pasparteau. It will hang on the wall where we have a floral pattern, it will fit perfectly as grandma loved flowers ❀️

My bearded man is making the final touches of his terrain for warhammer 40k, a really awesome bunker πŸ™‚

Search for “Terrain by Stefan” on facebook and you can find more about his creations there if you are interested.

Otherwise it will be a creative and lazy saturday ❀️

Friday evening

Blog, Creativity

Somehow I had energy left yesterday evening, even though working a full week and coming home late afternoon. I tried out my new Derwent water brushes, they were hard at first but after a while it went smoother πŸ™‚

I think I will call it “Lucky throw”, seems like a good title.

I also tried out the Windsor and Newton water colour markers, I used the paper in my sketch book…that went really bad and the picture got all destroyed…it probably got destroyed when I went a bit psycho with the Shinhan touch liner also… never again on ordinary sketch paper!!

I went to the post office to get two packages that I and my friend Alex have been waiting for. In the packages were new art supplies!!! So above you see my tests with still lifes.

I found water brushes at an art store the other day, and in the packages there were Progresso pencils from Koh-i-Noor, W&N brushmarkers, W&N water colour markers and Shinhan Touch Liner.

The Shinhan Touch Liner is bloody amazing!!!!
