Today and Tomorrow

Today: Vacation!

I have worked with  a comission, which I even finished, part of in-progress-picture below. I want to take proper photos and everything before posting anything.

I choose a paper with a bit more structured surface and it turned out to realy be the best option when I started painting with the water colours ❤

I have also bought new coffee cups so right now I am only drinking coffee out of this lovely cup ❤

I went into town with a friend right before closing today, I needed a new backpack, and I have had my eyes on a special backpack for a while ❤

TOMORROW: SCHOOL STARTS!!! ❤ ❤ ❤

I mean…

I start planning for lessons and make plans for the kids…and everything around 😀 My fingers has been itching for a while now but I have made sure to be off teacher-duty! And just having vacation…

I also start working at a new workplace, yes small butterflies are fluttering around in my stomach ❤ (I need to make a picture of this before weeks end..right?!)

 

*Mentally prepping….going to go eat chocolate now….*

Acrylic Markers

I have seen them be used by a few artists and I have thought just wow I want to try them too! I accidentally went to a store the other day to buy a few beads for my dreads when I found acrylic markers, I picked out a few and tried them out when I got home 🙂

They were very nice to work with, though I probably need to get a few more down to earth colours. I thought they would be easy to blend and well control, but I probably need a bit more practice or buy a wider range of colours. Anyone out there who has some experience with this kind of medium, feel free to throw in a tips or two about them 😉

Remember this painting?

it was ages ago I started on it, I was not happy about it at all so I just put it away for some other time, this other time came yesterday.

I am officially finished with it, sure I could probably keep working on it but as an experiment with acrylic markers I am finished and from that point of view I have learned a few things I can bring with me into the next painting 🙂

And yeah right here is what I was REALLY looking for the other day…

My growing bubble of calm

The exam I had on saturday is over and done with, and I have just been drawing and painting this weekend ever since!

I continued on this drawing

This just went straight to hell, I lost the feeling I had when I started it and it just went….I should really have stopped earlier, I wanted those twiggs to be more visible and….oh well I do have the sketch and I will probably make twiggs like this again….

I have also been working on improvements on character design, not always improvements obviously…but it feels nice to just try different things and see how it works, I’m not sure I have come to the point when I am pleased. I do want a joyful character with lots of ideas on her mind but what I see now is more of a quiet girl who do not say more then needed, and that feel out of place from my original design…to be continued ^^

I have this nice red sketch book I try to collect my drawing into, and I tried the water colour in it, and it worked quite nicely, though the promarkers was bleeding straight through so I had to have something beneath 🙂

Above you can se the result as well as another try to develop my character Ophelia, she looks quite bored, that was not what I wanted from the beginning, though I must say if I am pleased with something I like the light in the lower part of the painting/drawing : )

Here I just went back to my original design with the eyes and stuff, though I am not sure this is finished…and I am not sure I’ll continue either really

For now it seems like I will be able to just snatch a week-day, just like that, and just paint….no promisses for no one, but perhaps to myself ^^

Yes, I am trying to figure out how to merge my blog and my portfolio in a simple maner…bare with me..I should be finished later today!

There will probably pop up a few posts with a few pictures to my portfolio during the evening too, so there will be lots of updates coming up!

I also finished my painting today…curious?

Hanging, but not finished just yet

My lampshade I started on a while back, remember?

 

It is kind of hanging now, though, I have a few pieces left to do before it is done. I just thought it would be easier to continue while it is hanging : )

I still have the bottom left to make. I don’t think that will take as long as it did me to puzzle the top together though I have a few ongoing projects so therefore it might be another while…. but since it is hanging in the middle of my studio I will go past it all the time to be reminded to finish it! ; )

A creative weekend

Saturday my boyfriendand I decided to just be inside and just create stuff, it was nice. He skulpted his own warhammer 40k figures and I went on with the water colours. I made a sketch, one finished painting and a few experiments : )

Sunday I hanged around the so called lodge-people, another collective name could possibly be the-guys-who-do-warhammer-40k.including-my-boyfriend ^^ I managed to finish up the sketch I did the other day.

And above you can see how it turned out : )

I am pleased with some parts and some not that much but I suppose it is always a progress, right?! ; )

Am I good enough?

I while ago I started listening to a special podcast episode, I did not have the time to finish it so I listened to it all today. It went on about the question: Am I Good Enough? the question we all ask ourselves every now and then. I ask myself almost daily. I have also spoken to a friend about these kind of things. What happens when our education is finished? what will we be doing? what do we want to accomplish? do we have goals? are we simply good enough?

Before taking up this question on a walk a while ago we both thought we were alone thinking these things, we were so wrong.

These last days I have felt drained when it comes to creating. And today it kind of hit me. I have ideas, but why won’t I just create? I think I feel like I am standing still in my development right now. So for a while I will probably go back to the basics.  What kicked this feeling to motion is probably the really generous lending of a few books about ‘Pettson and Findus’ and the illustrations Sven Nordqvist have made. I guess I feel like I want to evolve my own style a bit more, move forward and become better at facial expressions, flowers, creatures, and so on. I want to be good too, and one day I might be if I keep up the work and take a risk or two and get out there.
